Sometimes you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.

Dr. Seuss

Dear Reader,

Our Family Farm Camp came to a close this morning, and the daughters and granddaughter headed back to their Austin lives. We are so incredibly grateful for this gift of their time and presence during the peak of summer harvest. Although the tomatoes were lagging due to a slow, cool spring, there was still plenty to pick and enjoy.

This evening, as I write, a special quiet descends on the screen porch, and the summer sun, low on the horizon, casts its shadow. This outdoor room now holds the sweet memories of chockablock days that will linger for weeks to come. Because eloquent words escape me, I'll let these pictures tell the story that is still writing itself.

Interestingly, as the camp week closed with final meal preparations, the Sun began its transit through Gate 33, the Gate of Privacy. The English translation for the I Ching Hexagram 33 is Retreat, which might be fitting as we each digest all that comes with family gatherings. You can learn more about the gate in my latest conversation with Lois and Christine. The gift of these five days is the movement towards wholeness and integrity. I'm in and curious what will show up for all of us.

Until next week,

It's Here!

Only our own compassion and loving-kindness are invincible and without limit, as they are internal qualities that can be cultivated within us and then shared with others. Thich Nhat Hanh Dear Reader, From May to the first fall frosts, our family garden not only nourishes our spirits and feeds our physical bodies, but it is also home to hundreds of solitary and bumblebees. Over the years, my interest in them has grown from curiosity to borderline...

When you stop silencing your body, you start hearing the truth. ~Barbara O'Neill At the start of the new millennium, I was guided into the fascinating world of natural healing. I was surprised to discover that to use the tools effectively, I had to master an entirely new language. This is no small feat, as it required me to attend to what I had been conditioned to ignore for the first forty years of my life. When I began to share the wisdom I...

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye. ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince Dear Reader This week, while chatting with an acquaintance and sharing some of what I’ve been up to, they innocently commented, "Wow, you are busy." No, I am not busy, I replied with a little bit of an edge. Checking myself, I realized the resistance to that...
